I sent my application to M2R Bahrain with no result after 2 months. Sad I got a job in KSA lined up.

You can see the job requirements here: MOD edit

My question is: when they say they want 5 years experience, does that mean 5 years tertiary teaching or 5+ years teaching TOTAL? My guess is that they are picky and want 5 years tertiary. Mr. Green

They asked for very specific experience.

Quote:
Curriculum and/ or assessment design
Common European Framework (CEFR),
Blended learning design and implementation
ESP/EAP/EOP
Academic literacy e.g. genre/ discourse
Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)
Problem/project/task-based learning.
Quality assurance and enhancement in Teaching and Learning at course and/or programme Level

Does any of your 5 years experience provide that and if so, did you stress it in your application?

We can only guess what they mean by "5+years experience." Apparently you didn't have what they wanted.

That list of requirements would eliminate 95% of applicants. I have EAP/ESP experience and project based teaching experience. That won't cut it. That CEFR requirement would put UK teachers at an advantage.

It's interesting to note that salary is not mentioned anywhere on the Naukrigulf ad. I'll just have to stay in KSA and get the experience as I stay thru my tenure as a KSA teacher. Oh well.

I never apply for jobs that don't state the salary or salary range at least.

The ad states; Salary: $3001 - $6000

BUT there are only 2 openings (which is what U would expect for a small place like Bahrain).

KSA looks good in comparison. 18,000 expats teaching there, some degree of anonymity, tax-free salary, and health care.

Now I have to get my idiot Dr. to schedule me for a physical. Government doctors are semi-retired, no matter what age they are. Mad

M2R told me that the max they would pay is 2500BHD per month (no accommodation) AND they would only pay that for people with a Delta !

I dont have a Delta but I thought my Applied Linguistics MA would help somewhat, but was told by M2R that I wouldn't get it. I woukd re-applky but no idea what I would give them as a figure.

However, it seems the institution wants someone all singing all dancing, who can cover all bases, and such people don't really exist.

I can tick all these boxes (have done all these things over the past decade and have the relevant BA and MA), but actually doing all those jobs in one full-time position would be impossible. All singing, all dancing indeed.

Actually, looking again, the M2R site says the want experience in "one or more of the following".

Anyway, apparently I was knocked back by them as they wanted someone with Gulf experience, more experience of teaching employability skills, and a flexible approach to teaching.

Okay, I haven't taught in the ME but I have taught plenty of ME students in the UK; "employability skills" are something that UK Job Centres focus on when people are returning to work, so what kind of students would you have here ? A flexible approach to teaching - meaning ??

This job (jobs) has been around for a long time, but they don't seem to be in a hurry to fill it.

M2R is a total waste of time. He ignored my application to KSA cos he said I don't have a bachelors degree I have a Graduate Diploma. So, I found a different recruiter who has almost got me a job in KSA now. He also ignored my emails I sent him proving I have a degree pass. What a w%%ker

Please be sure to spread it thoroughly around all forums! There's a really evil and persistent multi-headed monster about these days....
