I have found a site that gives me details of all the Saudi Unis, but most websites are in Arabic (I know, it was a shock to me too lol). I want to contact any that do direct hire; does anybody work for (or know) a uni that will contemplate this? I want to take a more direct approach and be pro-active rather than waiting to go through an agent.

I would scour the job listings and apply to anything that looks half decent.. Go ahead and contact universities but I suspect that things will move slowly especially as your CV may not end up in the right hands. As an example, for one direct hire Saudi gig, I applied for a job that was advertised in January, and they didn't reply until December!
