Yes, indeed, the fat years at TTC are coming to a close. Gone are the days when one spent one's time at physio at the nearby hospital (during working hours, of course), assigned an exercise and left class for a quick cuppa at Starbuks - and doing the weekly shopping at Carrefour. Gone are the days also when one would sneak out early to hit the greens by 2pm.....

The Germans are not to blame for everything. The English department was under Anglo-Maltese leadership for the last two years - with the inevitable chaos resulting from inept "management" and a pie-in-the-sky, head in the clouds approach adopting all kinds of cuckoo ideas and projects whilst there was a wholesale destruction of all things previous and nothing to replace them with.

Let's be positive here. the new provider, NEG (New England Group) as a front for EGA, will clean out the English department and install their own management and management structure, preferably with a new batch of committed teachers who are actually willing to put in the hours for the benefit of their students. Hopefully they will be British or American Muslims who will blend in better and create a cooperative working environment.

An American Muslim or British Muslim is likely to have a better handling of rote learning. Laughing Well they have to learn some way, don't they.

Yes I would agree. With the oil price as it is, and salaries and overall benefits of working in KSA going down the swanny river by the day, the obvious candidates to take up the slack will be the "Muslim lads" or reverts.

Add to that the fact that GCC faces teacher shortage as student numbers soar, and you have a real problem in the education sector in KSA: http://www.edarabia.com/123325/gcc-faces-teacher-shortage-as-student-numbers-soar/

If I was an ELC teacher at TTC now, I'd be acting like the techo teachers and looking to get out of Dodge asap. The glory days are over lads!

Sadly, I still believe that all the sniping and insinuating here will lead to nothing, however much you all wish or deserve to be vindicated for your losses.

I have had contact with a few of you privately about my own experience, some of you know which department it concerned and even identified who was involved without my having to do so directly.

The whole place and everything connected to it is rotten to the core and I believe goes much higher than just your management. These people look out for their own, when you raise your voice you are stonewalled - I have tried three times now to bring things to the attention at a senior level and have never even been acknowledged.

The people you wish to see punished for bad decisions or incompetency are the same names you will still see on the GIZ or CofE payroll or indeed bump into at other institutes around Riyadh, and they will go on to ruin more lives without a second thought so long as it pays for their expat high lives and huge cars for their even bigger egos.

I sincerely wish those of you who have suffered will be somehow compensated, but somehow I doubt it.

Will the last person to leave please turn off the lights...

Leggymountbatten,

my friend says there are rumours that some college staff have now been offered contracts. Are you in a position to confirm or deny this or have you decided to move on to pastures greener?

My friend says he heard the new providers were offering 2-year contracts to selected staff members. Any news on that?

Balzac, it is true that there has been movement in the way your post indicates.
However, one is loathe to go into detail at such an early point in the process.
I trust you will appreciate that this is as far as one can go for the moment.

Could anyone confirm or deny that the one known as The Fraud has offered to clean the toilets if the new company will provide him with a visitor's visa?

It's simply time to stay in your home country. There are jobs to be found back home and you can pressure your home politicians to respond appropriately to the Gulf State cesspool. Perhaps no more Gulf State Arabs allowed entry into the West. If that's a long shot, then there is Providence. I do believe in Providence for these pathetic nasties.

To quote myself:

For the record, my experience relates to the VP department. GIZ will never take responsibility for their staff's behaviour and irresponsible actions. Presumably it also helps to get yourself a wife in the GIZ offices, make sure you cover your a* from all sides.

And so it goes on...

A brief visit by a recruiter to one of the Islamic Centres in London or the Midlands should be enough for the recruiter to fill the slave galleys with eager teachers, desperate to go and experience life in KSA.

So how can you have any idea what these teachers have suffered? FYI:
- The VP crowd came and went as they pleased,
- "lectured" under 20 hours,
- never had to fill in Leave Request forms ....
