| However, once the CELTA has been verified, it's set for teaching jobs elsewhere in the world that do require it. In other words, better to get your documents verified now than scramble to get it done later and while outside your home country. |
And those countries are?? |
Seriously? How about any country that requires it now or possibly in the future. Immigration/visa requirements can and do change. Even China has started requiring qualifications be authenticated, which is the subject of this thread and a couple of others. |

see my post on another thread about having a medical for the Z visa. it doesn't say you need a medical to get a z visa in the agencies list of requirements.
Also I said that I asked if you need to produce your degree for the Z visa ad the agency said no and I asked if you need produce a criminal check and the agency said no.
so where do you need to authenticate your CELTA then? |

This is the exact quote from the agent in London in January when I asked about Chinese z visas.
No, the Embassy does not request evidence of educational qualifications. |

Apparently you need your degree before you get the letter from China which you need for the Z visa.
But I don't know if you need your CELTA as well as your degree. Just your degree I think. So no need to authenticate your CELTA for china |

Is there anyone out there who wasn't had to do this degree authentification stuff in order to get their residency permit renewed?
I was told by my FAO, who confirmed with her contacts in the PSB, that I didn't need to have it done to renew for the new school year. Just in case, however, I worked out a plan with a relative to have them send out the paperwork on my behalf. This relative assured me everything was ready to send out in the mail that day (about three weeks ago). Just today, I called this relative to check on the progress of my degree authentification and - wham - They still haven't lifted a finger! Now, with less than a month before my permit is supposed to be renewed, I'm dreading the "oh, sorry, new rule" creeping up right at the deadline.
Any reassurances out there? |

| If you are an American, and your relatives sent the paperwork in by mail, you won't get ANYTHING from any Chinese consulate because they will not accept mail-in documentation. You'll have to use a courier service that specializes in travel documents. |

Thanks to my ability to read, I'm very aware of the process by now, thank you. Authentication from the Chinese consulate is the last step. I'm still on the first. |

| Contact your university registrar; they may be able to get the authentication process done for you through the fed level. (You have to start with them anyway.) Otherwise, as suggested, pay a document service agency to handle it. |

My registrar said they can only help me with issuing a new diploma and notarizing it. After that, the process is pretty straightforward. I get it authenticated by my state government and then have a third party service take it to the consulate in NYC on my behalf. No need to have a federal authentication as my state falls under the NYC consular jurisdiction (see the other thread about the guy from Austin, who was able to get his diploma verified by the Houston Chinese consulate directly after authentication from the state level. This is all per the instructions directly stated on the consulate websites).
My concern is that I don't have enough time anymore. Had my relative placed everything in the mail three weeks ago, as they had assured me they already did, I'd probably have the new notarized diand authenticated ploma ready to send to the third party service for consular verification by now.
My question now is whether or not my employer is correct that I don't yet need all of this to renew my RP here. Has everyone staying in the same place had to get it done, or are there still some provinces not enforcing it yet? I've been told that ny new FEC has already been issued - if I'm already that far, am I in the clear? |

I doubt there's a definitive answer to that question, especially since this authentication requirement is fairly new. You may have to use your best judgment. Sometimes it's best to be safe than sorry. |

Dude, you're getting worked up over nothing. You're in the clear. The Public Security Bureau doesn't verify educational background. SAFEA (the people who issue the FEC) does. They issued the FEC. They're satisfied. I transferred mine from one employer to another in Shanghai a few weeks ago. They didn't require notarization/authentication/verification or any other ation. The transfer went smoothly. |

If you want help, a b*tchy answer won't get you very far. Don't expect forum members to know the story of your life. We go on what you tell us. And no, I haven't followed your previous posts. |

Yes, that much is clear.
Last time you tried to “help” me you ended up spazzing out over nothing because you couldn't be bothered to read my post fully.
Answers are only as valuable as the questions they follow, and your answer is unrelated to my question. |

It's not that I don't plan on doing it, it's that the time is now cutting very close. I have about one month before my current RP expires. It takes up to two weeks to process a new diploma, five days to get state authentication, and who knows how long to get Chinese consular verification. There's also mail transit time to consider. I found another relative who can help me out but not until Monday. Right now I'm just looking for something to calm my nerves. |

If you're chomping at the bit, rather than relying on the goodwill of relatives, bite the bullet and pay a professional document authentication service to facilitate the process expeditiously for you. |
