I've searched but can't find any recent threads on this.

Any thoughts on working for International House? Any red flags or major things worth considering when working for them?

All the big chains are crap. Unless of course you are in the "club."

Subsistence wages, micromanagement, 30h/w.... and no, the "club" doesn't accept new members.

Standards vary dramatically. I've worked for IH in two locations - one was fine, one not. A friend worked for IH Tarragona last year and said it was a nightmare - low pay, poor conditions, overworked and unhelpful DoS, condescending, lazy ADoS. The problem is that you're never really sure until you get there.

I get the impression IH would like British Council-like standards with regard to professional development, support and salaries, but they're a very long way off.

I'd echo this. I worked for IH for a few years when I was starting out and it was great. I know of colleagues who moved on to other IH schools in Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine and probably more if I thought about it.

Some had great experiences, other had terrible experiences. It's a bit of a gamble.
