I'm not sure what you mean by "we," but if you haven't noticed, this forum has been dormant for more than two years. That should give you an idea about the job situation.

Years and years back when volunteering on a Kibbutz, and long before I was ever an EFLer, I noted that the english level of the younger israelis was already pretty good, the older ones not so much, but even some of them were able to hold a conversation easily enough. I really can't see there being much of an EFL market there, not saying the moniker the 50th odd state of USania is true, but given the number of visitors from and ties to the US and Jews from other english speaking parts of the world, if there is an EFL niche it must be a tiny one.

I have taught here since 1980. You have to have a government certification to teach in State schools, where most of the demand is. THe pay sucks. There is scant other work, mostly Wall St, Berlitz , Helen Doron Franchise etc. If you are experienced and have certification you might get Open University but you can't live off it. There are too many native speakers around who are citizens, and speak Hebrew, so casual TEFLers will really not get a foot in the door in my opinion.
