I know it's highly unlikely, but is there anyone here (or do you know someone) who has a degree from Spain which has been authentication by the Saudi Embassy/Cultural Mission in Spain for a Saudi (or even another GCC country) work visa? If so, any details would be highly appreciated.

That would be RustyShackleford (see http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=111698). Send him a pm or wait until he comes on the forum.

Confession: I never had the masters verified. Just put it on my resume and showed the paper to the recruiting agency. The SACAM just took my BA and TEFL. Plan to get it properly processed this year but waiting six months for the thing to actually come.out is gonna be rough...

Thanks for the replies, Nomad and Rusty.

I have 2 master's degrees already verified, but they insist on having the Spanish degree authenticated also. I have no idea where to even begin.

Only one degree is required --- the one most relevant to the position as indicated in the job posting. If your MA from Spain is TEFL related, then it's considered to be your qualifying degree and is the credential you'd submit for your visa. But if it has nada to do with teaching or English, then let the prospective employer know. (By the way, the SACM and SACB are administrative arms of the Saudi Ministry of Education.)

In the GCC, relevancy of the degree is key. For example, a BA in English would trump an MA in an unrelated major. Most direct-hire university positions in the GCC won't consider anything less than an MA TESOL, MA in Applied Ling, etc. Also be aware that KSA, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain do not accept degrees that include online coursework.
