So far, since I've been here, I've seen the Turkish lira slide a lot. It did go down considerably even before I arrived. That's not only true in Turkey, but also in other countries due to the strengthening dollar. That said, Turkey's relations with many countries have deteriorated, regardless of what one thinks about that, and that effects FDI, Foreign Direct Investment. That has also contributed to the decline of the lira. Do you have any predictions? What would you consider a very good income in this kind of climate? 6000 TL?
By the way, why isn't Dave's more popular in Turkey? It seems like far fewer expats post on here. Is it because there a lot fewer EFL instructors when compared to places like Japan and South Korea? I have been here for under a year. |

I switched jobs from a USD dollar paying job to a lira paying job just befor ethe lira went down and it'S pretty horrible right now. I would suggest if you have around 4000-5000tl in your pocket after paying your rent or with a lojman its liveable.
Dave's is not so popular here because we have a couple of facebook groups where teachers talk about issues. There is one teaching greenlist and two black lists. I suggest you search and join them to reach out to the community at large. |

Could you please post links to those groups/lists? I couldn't find them when I was searching online. |

Since the vote in the UK to leave the EU the pound has only dipped slightly, I feel as mass hysteria takes control that hopefully will change and sterling will not be so expensive to buy this summer! |
