Is there a period within which one can renew an expired North American driver's licence (North Carolina) without re-taking the test ?
Thanks for any info. |

I'm sure you can find the state's dmv website on google. I'm sure that kind of info would be there, or at least give you the correct place to ask the question. |

License Renewal / Replacement
As of January 1, 1995, driver license renewal dates will vary by age due to a new five-year license renewal program.
Renewal:
Before your license expires, the DMV will mail you a reminder card explaining the number of years it will be valid. If you do not have your current or expired license at renewal, you will be required to show the examiner two documents of identification.
The vision and traffic sign recognition tests are always required for a license renewal.
Note:You may renew your license by mail if you are temporarily residing outside North Carolina for 30 or more days or if you are serving in the armed forces on active duty and are stationed outside the state. The license issued will be temporary and will expire five years from renewal on your birthday or 60 days after you return to North Carolina, whichever date occurs first.
Replacement
If your license is lost or stolen, go to the nearest Driver's License Office and apply for a duplicate. To replace a lost or stolen license, you must show the examiner two documents of identification approved by the DMV. |
I hope this is helpful.

My license was onver a year expired, in illinois and I renewed it and my state ID without taking anything but the vision test. |

I was all worried about it. But no sweat. I did it the day I returned, and they even renewed my CDL without a physical (I think they slipped up on that one). I had to pay a late fee, is all. (Washington State).
I failed the vision test though. Maybe I should have waited until I'd had a night sleep. Tried it right off the plane. Now I have that annoying "prescription lenses" restriction on my license. |
