I am in the middle of the process of getting my bachelor degree and an FBI background apostilled for an abroad ESL job. With the background check, I used an expedited channel, http://www.nationalbackgroundcheck.com/index.html . I ordered to receive both an emailed copy and for the paper copy to be mailed to me by 1st class mail. Well, it appears that the paper copy has been lost in the mail. I have waited more than a week now for the letter.
However, I received the email copy, and I printed it out. Will the Department of State accept the emailed copy and apostille it? The emailed copy has both the FBI icon letter head and the signature from the section chief. Has anybody here had experience getting an emailed copy of a background check apostilled? Was it denied?
The channel is very ambiguous with the wording for whether an emailed copy can be apostilled. They use the wording "The Department of State may deny it". I am hoping that they were required to use that wording if by the chance the Department of State creates a rule that background checks must be in security paper for it to be apostilled. |
