I am relatively new in ESL/EFL business, nevertheless I wish to live and teach in China. I have few questions for someone who passed through this kind of experience or heard about similar ones.
1. I plan to take a shortcut and go to China on a tourist visa; then look for the job on door-to-door basis and after finding it, start regularizing visa and permit issues. This way (I hope) I would skip middle man and save plenty of time and money (medical that I could do in China, criminal record etc). Any suggestions and ideas on that?
2. Which province (schools in it) is/are considered the most foreigner/teacher friendly and also offers relatively balanced salary? (good salary is not my priority but I want to get by with what I would make - see some extra explanation below)
3. I believe I would love to teach on Hainan Island or other sea based province. (I am dedicated windsurfer on my free time). Any opinions and suggestions about Hainan and/or other locations?
4. I work and study online simultaneously. My tuition is around £400 a month. Would it be possible for me to get by including paying for my school tuition on ESL/EFL salary in China/provinces close to sea?(I am a modest spender)
5. Legal questions:
I am not sure if I got it correctly. If you travel to China with tourist visa and find job on your own your employer suppose to do (help you with) your papers or at least some of them, right? Then depending on the province you will have to leave to get Z-visa, return and apply for RPF.
I think I have missed the point where you get the FEC, and who is applying for it, me or my prospective employer.
I would greatly appreciate information about the above.
Thank you very much |
