I heard from an Eng. Head at a Course school in Ist. that Visitor Visas can now be renewed without leaving the border.
Have you guys heard the same. Just to let you know this info was emailed to me about two weeks ago.

I'm not exactly sure about a non-work permit visa, but I've taken care of my residence permit with extensions. You have to go to the yabanci police office and fill out some form in triplicate with the necessary photos, blah blah. I think that the extensions tend to be for 6 months. When I got mine, I had to go to a bank and exchange 300 US Dollars for TL. I don't know what the current cost is for extending work permits but its probably something like 2-300 TL now.
Good Luck. You can always call the embassy and ask them for specific instructions.

um- to clarify just a bit.
The 300 US dollars were changed into TL which I KEPT. Something about proving you have enough money to live in "The Turkey". Like most Turks didn't already keep their money in US dollars or British Pounds.
This is what the requirement for US citizens was about 2-2.5 years ago. I don't know what the requirment is for other citizens nor do I know what the current requirments are.
Call your embassy or better yet- have a Turkish friend call the Yabanci Polis and have them ask the requirements. The embassy doesn't always have current and up to date info. |

I got a tourist visa extension through the yabanci polis about 6 months ago so its very definately possible. Its true that you have to convert money and show the dovis receipt but you keep the money. You need four photos I think. The question of whether its financially viable is a good one because as I have Irish nationality I only had to pay 60 million (plus I cant remember how much) processing fee ( another 50 million maybe) but my Dutch friend was told that she would have to pay 250 euros as there are different rates according to the country. Im 99% sure that you can only do this once. Last time I went to Meis Island opposite Kas which was 50 million for the boat trip and 10 euros for the visa. hope this isnt too late to help |
