In case you're wondering about the lack of response-it's basically cos the whole ESL expat scene in Indonesia, and specifically Jakarta has contracted into only a fraction of what it was 10 years ago. The kitas is an elusive beast these days....and EF certainly know this! Back in the [good?] ol' days-EF used to be able to aquire a kitas pretty quickly-for anyone western with a pulse. Think one-two months after the bule's arrival. Then, about 4-5 years ago Indonesia started to rigorously enforce the requirements, and make it such a long-winded process that it no longer became viable...who wants to work illegally at a language mill for 8-9 months?!! And believe me, Indonesia isn't a country you'd want to be arrested and detained in for working ilegally. I think 70-80% of EF staff now are non-western. A lot of the DOS positions at various training centres are now filled by Indonesians as well. |
