Hello. I'm living in Chicago and I'm interested in teaching English overseas (I have a university degree). I'm thinking about a TESOL certificate - it's about 200 hours of classwork and 60 practice.

Is it will be a good certificate fot teaching somewhere in Latin America?

Best regards,
Mark

Depends on where/what level you want to teach. For private classes and language institutes it will be fine. At mid level private schools it will likely be fine too. If you want to teach at the University level you will need some experience first, but you might still find something if there are no other applicants. Do you know where/what level you want to teach?

www.peacecorps.gov

Peace Corps has some positions in which you also earn a TEFL certificate while completing your service.

Is your University degree in Education?
You don't have to have ESl types certs if you have a Bs or MA in Education.
Colegios in Guatemala start both in August and also in January.
There are schools needing teachers right now.
