Hi there.
I've just accepted a job offer at a school in China which starts in September. However, i am going to the US at the start of May to work at a summer camp until September. To add the the issues, i won't be getting my degree certificate until October at the earliest as i graduate this year. It's been suggested that i get a headed letter from my university and get that legalised by the Chinese embassy.
So if anyone can offer any advice on what i need to get done for the Z visa before i leave the UK and what can be done in America it would be appreciated. Also anyone who's got experience legalising their degree the same way as me would be great. |

You will need to get your real degree and CELTA (if you have one), notarized by a notary public, then you will have to send them to the British foreign and commonwealth office in Milton Keynes. You also have to do this with your police and criminal record check which you can get for £25 from disclosure Scotland. Your police record check must be less than 6 months old. I suggest you get it after Easter.
You will also need to get a medical done here. But you will also need to do one in China anyway. why everyone is required to do one in their home nation and its then ignored is baffling. |

The medical is going to be the big expense, and a ridiculous one if you get marched off to the Chinese hospital a few days after arrival to do it all over again-this time at the employer's expense. However, a couple of provinces, including Guangxi and Guangdong I believe, accept the medical obtained overseas. I had mine completed in the Gulf last July, and never had to take another after arrival last September. |
