| I doubt if this question will yield any positive results but, does anyone know of a situation where a non-native speaker would be hired to teach ESL online? A friend of mine here in Hungary is looking into online teaching for its flexible nature. I understand that this not ideal or "legit." But is there any job worth looking into that would pay even a haypenny for someone who is a non-native speaker. One who has a natural affinity for English. |

| I work for VIPkid and they only hire native speakers. I will look into Cricket media. |

It's unclear what you mean by a "natural affinity" for English, but your friend might have a better chance of selling the idea to prospective employers if he/she has a CELTA or other valid TEFL cert, a uni degree, some teaching experience, and a decent IELTS score. |

| He has an affinity, meaning, a natural understanding. He has good Engish skills but sadly no bonafide certifications. I think what you mentioned is a great idea. He should look into some sort of TEFL cert and hopefully he can go from there. It's a bit of a stretch for him to find work anyway which is expected. Thanks for the idea. |

That is no longer the case. They recently changed that policy after pressure from TESOL International Association. |

| It would take quite some time (if ever) but he could also consider going the independent route through websites like Myngle. Perhaps there is a market for students who would like to work with non-certified NNES for budget reasons. |
