Luoyang Normal University is the ideal school for foreign teachers in China.

The dean, the foreign teacher academic coordinator, the Chinese English teachers, and the foreign affairs officer all made me very happy to work there. Plus a nice office and a nice dorm. 6 floors of dining halls. And the students are terrific, every one of them. The FAO kept me informed, handled problems immediately, and processed my paperwork efficiently.

Louyang is also an ideal city for foreigners. Clean, beautiful. Lots of trees and grass and bushes - it's like living in a giant garden. Friendly people. Lots of malls and markets. Then there is the lady they call Grandma, who organizes lots of English activities and invites to the foreigners to participate.

This was the best job I ever had.

Only one problem. Everyone is being moved to the new campus, which is miles from civilization.

I visited Luoyang once for just a day. I did see a McDonald's and a Pizza Hut.
Are there any other Western places to eat? Is there a Metro there?

Is it difficult to get to Zhengzhou?

Sounds like a decent first uni gig. Average salary 4-6 k a month. 16-22 classes is a bit much. Dorm-style living conditions is ridiculous.

"In addition to normal teaching hours, office hours and English corner activities are expected" While this may be the norm, hours per week can easily add up.

Not sure if serious. I work in middle school in Shenzhen. Clean air, 12 X 40 minute classes per week (all greade 7 so 1 lesson plan per week), a private apartment in school for sleeping during lunch, 10,000 rmb per month + 3,000 to rent my own apartment (which they will help find if necessary) Classes four days a week.

Sounds nice for a youngster, or a retiree. Time to write that novel or movie script you been meaning yo get around to. Or if you have other interests on the side, such as Chinese language, online business, sounds great.
