Hi there,

I used this site a few years back and received some decent and objective feedback. Subsequently, I've been working in the ME for the past 3 years.

I'm now considering leaving the ME for Asia.

Qualifications and Experience:
- CELTA, MBA, Postgraduate Dip: Marketing, Bachelor's: English and Media
- ESL teaching in Saudi Arabia: 2.5 years
- Business training experience: 2.5 years
- Corporate Marketing: 5 years

I'm a South African female (Indian descent - I understand colour is/can be an issue).

I'd like information or feedback on the following:

* Teaching Business English opportunities (Preferred)
* Teaching high school and/or adult ESL opportunities (Second choice)
* Recruiter recommendations
* Location/Regional recommendations
* Package expectations

Please feel free to inbox me should you prefer. Have a good day.

Regards,

Hong Kong might be somewhere to check out. Quite a lot of female English teachers have done well there because it is lively, offers good money, is quite safe, and is very international.

@ currentaffairs

Thank you for the advice. I'll be sure to look into opportunities in Hong Kong.

With so many business and law degree holders seeking similar teaching opportunities, don't limit yourself to ESL/business English.

Other options to consider include:
- corporate trainer or consultant specializing in marketing
- lecturer in an English-medium university, again with your focus on marketing

Make yourself stand out. Create an online portfolio to highlight your professional marketing work and also update your Linkedin profile to promote your eportfolio. Ditto for indicating your web link in your cover letters and on your CV when applying for positions.

Singapore is the place for you.

Go for entry level position at tertiary education providers.

Nationality and race are no issue as they'll focus on your quals, experience, character etc.

BUT better to be in Singapore to hunt jobs and be prepared to spend considerable time looking for a decent job.
