Typical Chinese company. Thoroughly read your contract and ask about details within it - even if you're sure you know what it means.
Example: is there an apartment provided, or do you need to source one. Also ask about deposits etc with regard to getting your own apartment. - They won't volunteer information.
You could also ask about staff turn over, usually a good gauge to see what a company is like.
Case Handlers - people who are supposed to assist with your daily life can be hit or miss. If it's something they know, they'll help. If it's something tricky, they disappear.
Observations - a recent change means that they'll come visit you but with little notice, and you don't get to choose the class that you're observed with. You are judged by a Case Handler (someone with no teaching training that I'm aware of) and a senior teacher (limited teaching experience and, as far as I know, no qualifications for being senior teacher).
Chinese classes - these, surprisingly, do exist. However, if you are far from the HQ you'll likely not be able to attend.
Accommodation assistance - They'll provide you with a small meeting where agents will come in and show off properties way outside the 3k budget range. Also you'll need to get a Fapiao to recieve the tax free 3k. That's as far as their assistance goes. Mostly, you're on your own as far as getting accommodation is concerned.
Upside, they try to pay on time. Usually late on the day of payment, or arriving the following day. The concept of paying a day earlier so that it does arrive on time appears to be a shocking foreign way of thinking.
There is some western management but mostly they'll just parrot what the Chinese management tell them - just with more bells and whistles. |
