Hi
I begin with a disclaimer. Although this is my first post, it's my first post with a new username. My old name was Desert Storm but couldn't remember my username/password so I created a new one. I'm American and have been in the Kingdom for 13 years, mostly in Riyadh. I'll cut to the chase.
There was a company called EZT Solutions that advertised last year for part-time gigs at 225SR (which isn't bad at all). They had an induction back in December and promised all the attendees that they hear back within 10 days. It's now April and they finally got back to me (warning sign one). Other people still have heard nothing (warning sign 1.5). The presenter at the induction was a nice fellow who guaranteed that the salary was slightly negotiable (higher for MA and PhD holders) and that we could be paid every two weeks. Now with regards to the salary, 225 is not bad at all but it would still be nice to get more if you have a higher degree. Getting paid twice a month, from a company that isn't your sponsor, is great because at least after two weeks you'll be able to tell if they are HONESTLY GOING TO PAY YOU. I worked at one one place for 6 weeks a year ago....I'm still waiting for my 7k now in 2017! So you have to BEWARE of this side gigs.
Long story short, the whole time I've been corresponding with a nameless, faceless, unidentifiable (warning sign two....only one more left) [email protected] who has provided absolutely no information about the project other than it's starting. They also told me 5 days beforehand. I asked about the salary negotiation like the presenter mentioned at the induction. He/she said nope! Not this time! I asked about getting paid every two weeks like the presenter mentioned. Again, nope! At the end of the month (warning sign three....it's a wrap). It's one thing to have a policy. It's another thing to say one thing at an introductory meeting, promise gold and then in the end give peanuts. You may potentially work an entire month, receive nothing but "tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrows" at the end of that month and have absolutely no legal recourse to get your money.
If they are legit, they have a VERY unprofessional way of handling business; if they're not, then I'm not surprised.
People BEWARE. |

Picking up part time work is illegal isn't it if you have an Igama isn't it? |

well yes and no. So one would definitely have to be mindful if one has an iqama under a particular sponsor for the purpose of language teaching. There are those, however, that have iqamas that aren't bound to a particular sponsor (investor's/consultant iqama, iqama under a prince, etc.). So part-time work doesn't automatically equal illegal if that's what you're getting at. |

Next thing you know they will be asking you to buy the books for class and that you will be reimbursed later.
Pyramid scheme.
Unprofessional, unorganized and dishonest business practices ....in SOWDY.....C'mon, I don't believe it.
It's not stealing, if it is non-payment to a khawaja.....didn't you know that?
Ahhhhh.....the magic kingdom....just keep your mouth shut and your head down....and you'll be fine. |

Same here in 7 years. The key to that was working for a defense contractor who had a lot of "wasta". Igama in days, always paid on time, good support from company and military. |
