I made my statement in response to the OP's indication that she has an upcoming interview with Chongqing University; since that is what she has in hand, I simply replied that that "could" be a good first move.
Actually I have been to Chongqing. Also, I lived in neighboring Sichuan for five years (2000-2003 and 2012-2014).

| I know a few people who work/ed for CU. A decent gig. Most tend to stay for 2+ years. Organized, competent FAO (for the most part) but you'll end up either hanging out with other foreigners or students from nearby universities. |

You have an MA in Linguistics and 2 years of teaching English experience... PASS!
I can't believe you're considering this job as a 'serious' job. Fine if you wanted to go for personal reasons, a year off, or research. But as an actual 'job' job.... no.
There are much better jobs out there. PM me and I'll give you an overview, though I should ask your 2 years of experience is after the MA or before? That can be a factor. |

Notable indeed.
Agreed, 2,200 + 8,000 rather than just 2,200 is definitely a very different story.
Not so bad, a more common payout for end of contract I reckon.

There is a black American on YouTube somewhere demonstrating a class. She is brilliant!
That said these were young children and probably more accepting of difference than teenagers.
Don't want to labour the point but you should be aware of racism in China.
I think unless a big red flag comes up the offered position looks OK, especially if Oral English.
The lack of access to current or former teachers is a 'caution' rather than a red flag.
Do have a bailout plan though.

This is one of the "Joy" Private schools, they are all over China, originally from Taiwan.
In my opinion, their teaching system is one of the best in China, everything is aimed at getting the kids to speak English, to make it natural for them.
I did part time work in one for over 3 years, loved every moment and would return at the drop of a hat, if I had the time. |

Haha, I do not know anything about China or the Universities out there. I am only about to start this journey. I definitely do wish to get good university teaching experience as that will help with my future endeavours. |

Do not start it at this university. You have so many better options. Do more research on better jobs, you could easily find out enough information in a day. Trust me, that day of research will be well worth it as you'll be living in that place for a year. |

I like her clear and slow pronunciation.
Many people teach for years and still don't learn how to do that.
Too many people speak quickly and use too much slang. |
