Has anyone taught with or heard of tesol tree in Thailand? If so what are your thoughts? they got in touch with me through tefl.com and I will be having a Skype chat with them soon to go over some questions I have.

Regards, Ray

Just another agency. They sell dreams and TESOL certificates.
They sell you (English teachers) to schools for a commission.

Why use an agency?

If you are a native speaker and have a degree then be here ASAP and you'd be working in a week - direct hire to a school at 40k per month rather than sold by some agency and earning 30-32k.

If you do not have a degree then take what you can get since legal work is not an option.

How would that work?...

Do you I need to get an authenticated copy of my degree, CELTA and criminal background check (like what is required for China)?

Would I just fly out on a tourist VISA?

What would you recommend doing e.g. just booking into a hotel somewhere then show up in person to schools and language centres?

Sorry to sound naïve.

Teachers started reporting to work last week.
Students return to school on the 15th.
Land in Bangkok and use the hotel wifi.
google for "ajarn" (Thai for teacher).
Start applying for jobs.
Things will move fast.

You will need a police check, your original degree and transcripts to enable you to get a visa.

You will eventually need to get your degree "authenticated" and that process varies depending on where you are from.
The process will look something like:

    Enter the country.
    Find a job.
Do a visa run to extend your stay.
Process the paperwork for your non-b.
Do a change of status or visa run again to get your non-B.
The school applies for your provisional teacher's permit and work permit.
Go to immigration and extend the non-B
    Finish your year.
Decide what you want to do next year.
Extend at the same employer OR repeat the process from start.
