Has anyone had their degrees certified? If I am correct, I have to take my degrees to the Chinese embassy in Canada to get them certified? I can send them to an agent? Anyone have this experience?

After checking the thread, message astrotrain if you have further questions. He seems to know most of the answers for Canada.

This is the company I used, but I am a Canadian living in China.

I couriered my degree to them and they went to two places to get this done. One of them was the Global Affairs, the Authentication and Service of Documents Section (JLAC) at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (check your city). And then they went to the Canadian embassy. You need your original degree as they put the authentication sticker and stamp on the back of it.

Try this company if you are in the Ottawa area.. this is the one I used and it took two weeks to get back to me.

I went to Ottawa in person to have it done. Some docs the original are okay, others require a notary. Pretty painless, in and out of the government office in 15 minutes. Certified 6 docs if I remember.

I did not have to go to the Embassy. For my job the Canadian certification was enough.

I'm confused on this. Are you working in China? I believe the Chinese government wants a degree authenticated. I did not have to have my degree notarized first. It had to go to the two offices I mentioned. I'm not sure what you mean by Canadian certification? The Canadian embassy in Beijing certified my degree, but was not able to authenticate it which is a different process altogether.

My bachelor degree did not require notarization, the Tesol diploma needed to be notarized first before the Canadian government would authenticate/certify it. I am in China, Henan province, and my Canadian authenticated/certified docs were enough, I did not have to go to the embassy.
