It is true that all teachers at various cities and different schools/contracts are ALL waiting on their salaries from the MOE?

Our understanding in our city is the company hasn't paid us because the MOE has not paid them.

They are saying this has something to do with Ramadan, but I'm not sure, because previous months it wasn't Ramadan with some of the other schools. What does anyone know about teachers being stuck in KSA without salaries?

It happened last year as well. And it is nothing to do with Ramadan. Ramadan usually means you get paid earlier, not later.

The economic situation is bad. There isn't enough money. Contractors to the government (not just in the education sector) are getting less money and they are getting it later. Given that nobody has ever got to grips with the concept if cash flow, this causes significant problems - many companies don't have enough money to pay staff. They rarely have enough will to pay staff either.

I work at a private school, and we were already paid for June and July. I heard from someone at the school that government salaries were to be paid June 18th, but whether that was hearsay or something more concrete, I have no idea.

Rumours abound in the country. the French used an expression when they were cstill a colonial power - "Telephone Arabe" to account for the proliferation of stories in an otherwise closed society. KSA is not so diffrent.

The Saudis are not being honest about how desperate their situation is, either with themselves or with foreigners, teachers, etc. Shocked Their almost sole financial income is oil, which now appears to be permanently cheap.

Would you leave the country without salaries?

I didn't. I got paid eventually. But I could afford to wait.

Other people left. They were promised that the money would be sent to them. They are still waiting.

Your call - how much do they owe you versus how much does it cost you to stay in country - remember that you are still costing them money in terms of accommodation, health insurance, iqama etc. That works in your favour but few companies realise that until your iqama comes up for renewal.
