				| Hi
In a mad dash researching different countries and have just started to do my homework on China.

I'm ideally hoping to get a public school job in Dalian but I'm flexible. Native speaker with 11 years experience teaching mainly kids, non-education degree currently based in UK. As I said I need to be in China no later than 3 months from now. Speak basic Mandarin too if that makes a difference.
 What are my best options?

				| Register on Seriousteachers.com Don't use your passport photo. Use something more animated ie as if you have a pulse.
There are more vacancies for FTs in tertiaries in China than say high and middle schools.
For Dalian several unis have moved to Lushun with is an hour south of the city. Picturesque but quiet.
The Wikipedia entry for Dalian will have an 'Education' link on a sidebar. This will bring up a list of main tertiaries, but (and I haven't looked recently) not webpage links.
You'll have to Google for those. Once you have a site look for 'International', 'Recruitment' or 'Foreign Student' links.
As always go to the Job Offer Checklist thread and check any interest against the issues highlighted.
4-year schools will let you start end Sept as their freshers do a month military.
Vocational (3-year) schools probably ask for 1 Sept start.
 Best

				| You posted this on the General Forum yesterday: 'Can anyone give me information about 3-6 month work placements in Asia ideally in China, South Korea or Taiwan. Volunteer projects with free accommodation and meals also accepted.'

You are also active on the Vietnam & Japan forums. There's no point in posting until you have decided on which country and which type of position you are intersted in.

Dalian is nice and the fact that you can speak basic Mandarin will certainly help with the settling in process. NS (our resident Dalian expert) has weighed in already. Since your experience is with kids, and if you enjoy teaching kids, I would recommend that you target a public primary school position. This will entail going through a recruiter. There's plenty of information on this forum anyway. Do your homework and don't expect others to choose where you want to go and what you want to do!

Ok thanks for the helpful information in your response but I did say in my original post that I was doing my homework on several different countries and asking questions on this forum among others is part of that homework. I think it's totally sensible to look into a wide variety of options in case my first choice becomes unavailable. That's just obvious! Are you kidding me with all this eye rolling nonsense? These kinds of comments are just too funny!

				| Your posting in the Japan and Vietnam forums was confusing because you stated you were trying to return to Japan in Sept right after you posted that you couldn't arrive in Vietnam until after Sept. Yet, it's only here that you say you've been considering several countries.
Anyway, I hope you're able to settle on one of the numerous countries you're targeting. Just be sure to check for requirements since you don't have a TEFL cert.

Hi. Yes I've been having a few hiccups with Japan and it looked for a while like I had to abandon it. Vietnam was to be a backup plan if possible. I only recently reconsidered China. I like to have a lot of backup plans and do a lot of research.

				| Why do you need to get to China in September? Why is that the cut off date? I would give yourself as much time needed to find a job that suits you. | |
