No salary posted = very low salary by Western standards.
Competitive salary= probably around USD 200-1200. Good for hairy backpackers.
Accommodation support=you will have to pay for your own apartment and utilities.
Salaries from USD 1000-4500 a month= the salary is USD 1000 a month.
Salaries up to USD 4500 a month =divide by half and subtract USD 1000

Anyone would like to add some more?

That's more likely the situation with sketchy for-profit companies.

Generally, the absence of a posted salary may mean that it's calculated based on a number of factors including education level/degree relevance. That's the case for direct-hire university positions in the Gulf, which can pay well for those with a TESOL-related MA and verified, related experience. Obviously, someone who's a novice teacher isn't going to receive the level of salary more experienced teachers get.

You have to consider the requirements for the position. If a BA in anything, a TEFL cert, and 0-2 years of experience are indicated, then a lukewarm salary will likely be offered.

Maybe it's best to ignore job ads from employers known to be cheap and/or sketchy. Razz

"Excellent local salary," AKA
"Excellent salary by local standards,"
Translation: you can live on this salary here if you have extended family to share costs and help you out, but you can't afford a flight to leave.
