|
|
hi all,
Has anyone heard anything / or worked for Play and Say? They have a 7 week residential camp from April to June. The interview with Aida wasn't very interview (ish) in my opinion - I wasn't asked much, just if I had questions for them. Aida's email is also a hotmail address. They have offered me the job and will send the contract through once I book flights and send confirmation I have booked the flights.
Does this seem legit? It can't be a scam as they are not getting money out of me, maybe just annoy me by making me book flights then offering a crap contract?! The money and hours have been outlined, just something doesn't sit right. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance! |

Sounds like a scam to me.
Play and Say seem to be a legitimate company, but I would have doubts it is them you are really dealing with.
I´d imagine that they´ll invent an admin charge that you need to pay to get your contract once you´ve booked flights.
Do you have a right to work in Spain i.e. EU passport?
If not, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to get a work visa.
What are they offering to pay you? For this type of work, I´d expect salary to be counted in hundreds rather than thousands.
Also, academies in Spain do not often recruit at a distance.
Email them at [email protected] to ask, and given that "Aida" used a hotmail address is certainly an alarm bell. |

The fact that "something doesn't sit right" should set the alarm bells ringing and if you have any doubts, I would ignore it.
However, as it's only seven weeks, it wouldn't be too much out of your life if you did it and it wasn't for you. At least you will learn something from it.
Do not pay out any money though! |

Did you take the job?
I did this job three years ago, I'm glad it was only seven weeks because it was hard work.
The plus side is they paid on time and we even got extra pay as one teacher was sacked and the rest of us took on his role and shared his salary.
It was based in a hostel with full board and accommodation so you saved all your salary. I wouldn't do it again though. |

Is it just me, or has anyone else had no luck with getting a summer camp position? Have said I am willing to work anywhere, 15 years experience, but still just get an "ummm" and "arrgggh" back at best....or just zero replies at all. Do they prefer young americans or something, IE, is it an adventure camp....but then why do some of them mention teaching english? |

Economics constraints limiting the market, I think. Probably nothing personal;-) |
