Hello everyone!
I am looking for some help gathering basic intelligence on TEFL in Almaty, Kazakhstan. I must say the net is not exactly overflowing with up to date accurate information!
I will be studying at KIMEP, doing a masters and will get a student visa. I have over four years TEFL experience, having lived and worked in St. Petersburg. I am British and have a CELTA certificate.
My main questions were about working TEFL part time, 20 hours a week, evenings.
(i) Which schools should I apply to/ stay away from?
(ii) What would the expected hourly rate be?
(iii) Will they be willing to pay cash in hand?
(iv) I will be on a student visa, will they still hire me and pay me in cash?
Anyway would appreciate any help with this as it will play a big part in helping me to decide whether this is a feasible move (I need to support my living expenses while studying)
KIMEP should be able to help with some work but I dont trust their ability to get me work (after all this is not there main job!) and want to know how the city will treat me
Hope to hear from some of you!
Regards
Matthew |

Yeah, I would like to find out, also. Thinking of working there and not finding a lot of info.
