I've heard some freelancers say they make an okay salary. Mostly doing in-company work directly with businesses.
But you need to have been in the country for a while and made some contacts and a reputation for yourself.
Plus there's still the problem of what do you do in the holidays.

I was on more than that in Madrid ten years ago. Of course I wasn't working some of the year.

In-company work is relatively easy to come by in Madrid. What schools write in adverts and what they accept in terms of employees is very different.

Just look at the ads on tefl.com. You can see for typical academy work it's between 1100-1300 EUR on 20-25 hours/week.

True but you can make more than that doing in-company classes.

Really? Is there that much in-company? Or rather enough IC that isn't just the odd hour here and there, which although might be a couple of euros more is offset by the travel/extra admin etc.

It seems your evening Academy work is your bread and butter and a bit of daytime IC as a top-up?

I see ad after ad for in-company classes in Madrid on LingoBongo.com every day even now that most academies have filled their staff. If you're legal and preferably autonomo there's loads on offer.

There is loads of in-company work. Going autonomo is the way to amke the most money. Most teachers who work in academies and do in-company work are probably doing as the academy will have resources they can use.

Hi. Unfortunately, the average salary that many people earn right now in large cities in Spain is between 900 and 1200 euros per month. It depends on the company, the sector and the geographical location but right now you are lucky if you receive this salary. What a shame...
