Hi,
Does anyone have any information about working at the University of Macau? The vacancy for Director of English Language Centre has been out there for months and still appears to be open. It's good money so I am just curious as to why it hasn't been filled. Are the university particularly fussy perhaps? Or is there a reason that people wouldn't want to apply for it?
Any information about University of Macau and Macau in general would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

the former director, who is well-qualified, was forced out because the university wanted to revamp the whole structure (i.e., lower standards), hence they only have an interim director who has been there forever but either was not made perm or has turned it down.
this was relayed to me by two of my new coworkers, who both came from UM and were quite senior within their academic (i.e. teaching and non-admin) staff... |

Just a side note on the actual university/campus... it's a prison. Well, seemed that way to me. I visited for a conference a few years ago. The university is not actually in Macau but Zhuhai, connected by a tunnel. Sure it's close to the island, but has a big wall all around the campus. Just has a 'prison' vibe. With not much to do on the actual campus. |
