Some might have followed my trials and travails over the last year - the move to Guangdong - to the "international school", AKA Silver Beach International School, Renshan Town, Guangdong.
I've moved on, and taken a position in Zhejiang province. However this time I have been anointed the position of "Director of Teachers" at a young learning centre, which is essentially a managerial position.
I've been enjoying low key positions, where I work and go. Now I'm in the thick of things. I have to manage a team of foreign teachers, recruit new ones, interview them, train them, create curriculum (learning material), liaise with the Chinese staff (of course), the designers and cartoonists of the new material I/we're creating from scratch, chat with the overlords from time to time, teach a few hours/week.
Easy peezy, or 'hao mafan'? I like a challenge, preferably Mt Everest.

It may turn out to be a blast, or boring or a nightmare.
Hit or miss. |

Let's hope it's a blast. I'm tired of drama and/or boredom. Certainly would look good on my CV for future placements. |

| Good luck, give it a good go is all that you can do. I find a job where I'm busy and productive much better than a boring cushy number! |

| A managerial position which will give you much better transferable skills if you decide to ever leave the wonderful world of ESL and/or become an entrepreneur. |

Take it I need to continue improving my cover letter. 😭 As others have said, best of luck. Having so far been content with being a small fish in a large pond, it would be interesting to hear an experience of a big fish, so let us know how things shape up. |
