Just bumping this thread as I met a guy last weekend who has the best setup I've ever seen. He is a freelance private tutor like myself. He used to work at one of the more prestigious private schools on the island but decided to go freelance once he got his PR. Over the years he has developed a strong reputation for himself as a go-to guy to prep students for schools and colleges overseas. Most of his students are in good secondary schools and he has a long list of students waiting for a space in one of his classes.

He works from his home, and teaches small groups of 4 students at a time. Usually his schedule is something like weekday afternoons 3:30pm - 7:30pm or 4:00pm - 8:00pm and then a couple of hours on Saturday. He charges HKD 450 / student which equates to HKD 1,800 per hour or HKD 7,200 per day. He does the occasional private class as well but his working hours stay in the low to mid 20's. He told me regularly earns between HKD 160,000 - 170,000 per month.

Naturally, his position was developed over several years and with a lot of effort but MOD EDIT, that's beyond even what I though was possible just a few years ago.
