Hello, I'm a friendly new guy to this website and would like to ask a follow up question to a previous post. DR wrote that it's better to have quality of life rather than higher pay. So my question is which country allows the highest quality of life? Any details would really help such as best food, most beautiful women, friendliest atmosphere and cool things to do such as skiing, surfing, or just good ole boozing. Thanks in advance.

Istanbul is one of the places in Europe where you earn a reasonable salary, save money and there is so much to do and loads of places to go |

Well, speaking as a single man in his mid 30s, I'd have to say that Taiwan, Korea and Japan offer the most for me in an 'all round' sort of way.
There is lots of work - corporate, high school, conversation school, college and private - to choose from. The money and savings are very good.
The food is great.
The women are AF*KINGMAZING in these parts
I can travel to several different points in South East Asia within a few hours from these countries.
I can drink beer on the street while watching the cops pull people over to see if their bicylces/scooters are stolen and they don't seem to mind me one bit!
The 'Big Three' in Asia are where I'd recommend newbies look. |

Sometimes you have to compromise. My compromise is to work in one country (KSA) and live in another (somehwre in the Balkans.)
There is a price to pay though. |

I would have to back the afore-mentioned Taiwan. The lifestyle here is easy and good. Yes he is right, the women are something to look at as well. It is a country full of personal possibilities. The money is high and the students generally very welcoming.
Another place (I haven't been to but am / was considering / researching) is Vietnam. The secret is generally coming out. The money is comparable to the best-paying Asian countries and the country itself looks beautiful. Although I have heard that Vietnamese students can be quite demanding (grammar-wise) of their teachers and are less tolerant of Western faces (possibly only in the North). |

Things are pretty good in Italy, Portugal and Spain -- excellent food and drink (and both can still be found at great prices), interesting cultures, loads of festivals, sports galore, plenty of sights to see, fascinating histories. Regarding skiing and surfing -- lots of opportunities for things like that. Plus, many English language students love to talk, talk, talk and get to know their teachers, share insights into cultures, etc. Id have to say, therefore, that from both personal and professional perspectives, quality of life makes this region an attractive one for English teachers. |
