Hi, everyone. Has anyone ever worked for Dialog/ELC or heard anything about it? |

Anyone who studies the recruiting ads. on sites such as TEFL.com will see that that there seems to be a bunch of places who are regularly recruiting, with an occasional new one popping-up from time to time? This can only mean either:
1)Business is expanding continually so they always need new staff,
or 2) the turn over of staff is high and continual because of all the negative reasons you can read about from various people on posts in this forum (and elsewhere)from those who have had these experiences! Unfortunately, with the vast majority of firms in Russia, this is the reason....
There are exceptions of course, but most of the really good jobs there are only for very experienced and qualified professional teachers and they are usually advertised on specialist foreign recruitment sites.Needless to say, they expect a lot for the usually lucrative terms they offer. |

Put it this way, I know someone who was facing being fired for returning to work a couple of days late due to a family emergency, got threatened with the sack and a huge mouthful of career destruction etc. That person quit before getting sacked. |

Several postings have been deleted for including names of individuals and other personally identifying information.
If it happens again, permanent banning along with ISPs is more than highly probable. |

My friend worked for them, and from what she said, the owner isn't a level headed person. so basically, they never paid her on time, and when she decided to quit they owed her 100,000 rubles. she asked when she could go to the office to pick it up, and they said to meet her in the metro and they would hand it to her in an envelope. Eventually she just went to the office and demanded her salary and they gave it to her.
she talked to me for about an hour about everything they did, and it all sounded super sketchy and bizarre. All the Russians I've worked for always use some form of manipulation to gain the upper hand of teachers, but the things this company has been reported of doing are just super weird and defy all logic. so, stay away |

Getting paid on time as well as one's salary is a "patient" process....not just in Moscow...but elsewhere in Russia too!!! Eventually most (if not all) teachers get paid their salaries. |

Do not recommend. Had an interview with the owner who is an expat but very shady. Could tell that he was more concerned about his own money and profit above anything else. He is running a fly by night operation and preying on naive teachers. |

A lot of these language schools in Russia sound like dodgy backstreet operations run by a coterie of hucksters and shysters. The gong shows are well documented on this board.
If one is looking at Russia, you would be better off angling with an established IT/multinational company. Otherwise the only other option is a McSchool and you will not be balling it with any of these outfits. |

Exactly. this one is basically an expat married with a Russian wife and too lazy to actually work himself. taking a huge cut and trying to screw the teacher any way possible. |

Why did you even despite ALL the negativity that is easily found online about them? |

This was a few years back when I interviewed with several schools at once. I do my due dilligence afterwards but doing the interview gives me direct communication and a better idea how the school operates. |
