|

Probably a bit odd for this forum, but I'm worried about the state of the petrodollar and would like to move my a big portion of my ESL savings into precious metals that I can see with my eyes and hold in my hand. If you can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm currently in Vietnam and like it a fair bit. But I do have to make a visa run soon if there are any neighboring countries you might recommend for safety, quality, etc. |

You are aware that owning and carrying precious metals (the physical stuff) other than jewelry is still against the law in many places and carrying the same across international borders can be restricted or prohibited without licenses to do so?
.
With precious metals, the same as currency or a a bearer instrument , you are also restricted in the amount you can carry internationally without declaration when it is legal to carry.

Since you're in SEAsia, try Singapore? I hear they have trustworthy banking institutions, and gold vending machines. Don't lug your ingot around Vietnam -- it's bound to get you a knife in the back someday. |

there are thousands of good shops in Thailand...however, others are spot on...there are literally lots of carrying costs...just buy the GLD....but you can add the renters as a second group, who get slaughtered in the long run. And don't get me started on the bitcoin conmen...sheesh. What ever happened to people being plain old CIA assassins? Now, they all claim they got rich in bitfarce. |
