Just curious, what certifications have been most useful to you?

For me, it's been CELTA. It helps not only with certifiable skills but also immigration.

What about you guys? Has teaching certification, PGCE, etc. helped?

My MA opened doors I couldn't have accessed without it.

Basically, I think everyone's highest qualification is (currently) the most valuable - it's only logical. I suppose there could be some exceptions, though.

Even before I had had completed the coursework, I was given a higher salary for simply being en route. It also landed me a university position once I returned stateside

An MA in TESOL has allowed me to work as an adjunct instructor at several colleges in CA and as a full time instructor at a university in Japan. The advanced degree has really helped, especially coming from another industry and at an older age.

For me, a Master in TESOL meant job offers in five different countries in university prep programs.
Teaching Certification never got me a pay raise in any of those programs. However, now I feel that many countries have turned their focus to teaching English before university, in elementary or high school. Therefore, I would recommend a Master TESOL with K-12 Certification ESL and another subject area if possible. STEM would be advisable. This is because international schools are looking for teachers who can deliver English in a Content Area.

Getting myself a PGCE proved very nice. One day I will work on getting it subject specific, maybe History, but that is taboo in China I am told.

For me, the initial ELT certificate. Without that I would not have been able to get many of the jobs I have held. Although the MA has meant progression, I would never have got that far without the certificate.

It was my 'lesser' certificates that got me a good teaching job as teacher of ESL for KG and primary at a private school in Myanmar ==> Jolly Phonics, Teaching SEN students, Montessori Method, Speech Therapy.

I teach one-to-one, so Module Three of DELTA (where my specialism was teaching one-to-one) was entirely relevant and useful to my current position.
