I thought I would ask this in the overall forum for Europe, to eliminate my cross-posting in multiple forums. If that's a bad idea, I'll happily move it. I'm trying to decide if it is worth my time to try to work in the EU or if I should concentrate outside of it. I will have (by the time I am ready, next year) my:
MBA
MEd
MPA
MA/Communication
CELTA
I teach college and tutor here in the US, and I have substantial experience in the business and nonprofit worlds.
So do I have a shot, or am I another American with a pipe dream?
Thank you! |

The only relevant qualifications for TEFL are your M.Ed, CELTA, and training experience. Plus, TEFL is not a high paying job in Europe.
Since you have business experience, why not apply to US companies with locations in your target region(s). For example, Google: American companies in Spain.

As I noted in the Spain forum, you'd have more chance at a CEE country. Nomad is correct that salaries are relatively low. |

I agree, most of those degrees mean nothing for teaching English. Probably the bigger question is " why come teach English with 4 professional degrees?" Do you have any clue as to what you want out of a job? Do you even want a job? You could have easily come here with a bachelor's and a CELTA. You should probably take a long look in the mirror before making such a decision. |

Adding to sparks' comments...
How does TEFL fit into your career goals? You likely didn't get your MBA, MEd, MPA, & MA/Communication with the intent of teaching English in an entry-level job. Be aware your overseas TEFL stint could set you back professionally in terms of a career related to any of your degrees once you return stateside. Prospective US employers look at resumes/CVs for evidence of career progression and are likely to see your time abroad as a gap or worse, that you're indecisive, especially given your multiple grad degrees. |
