For those who move out of Japan, are there other cheaper alternatives for moving your stuff than Japan Post sea mail? |

It looks like the two cheapest ways to move your stuff are by JP https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/service/i_parcel_en.html or simply pay an extra fee per bag when you fly home.
The advantage of JP is that they can pick up at your door. I sent books from Japan to Canada by surface mail before at a discounted rate through JP, and they took months to arrive. But they arrived.
I checked some airlines. Extra bag or overweight bag charge (even up to 45 kg) ranges from Y3000-10,000 depending on the airline and destination. |

You have to ask yourself what you really need and if it is cheaper to just sell what you have and buy it again at your next destination. |

I have moved away and to Japan. I had a great but a bit costly experience , where they moved my iMac and everything went smoothly.
Had another one where it was cheaper, but they basically broke anything that could be broken, including ruining books.
I'll find the details later |

I think if you have enough time, then the wait pays off. One should rather wait a bit, than to buy everything new. Slower means safer in this case. |
