Hello All!
A couple of friends of mine are considering last-minute contracts in Oman and Saudi Arabia.
I would like to ask about conditions at CAS and CT, more specifically Nizwa and Salalah, in terms of working atmosphere and teaching hours, student attitude.
If anyone knows what might be the best/most tolerable CT, CAS or universities to work at now, please let me know. My friends said that overall the CAS pay is not very good compared to other CT agencies. Are there some gems anywhere in the Gulf now?
Please feel free to PM, would appreciate some advice.
Thanks! |

Hi i did it for love,
My experiences working in a CAS might be a bit out of date (over two years old), but, as nobody else in nibbling.....
I was working in Salalah, which, if given a choice, I would pick over Nizwa. I have only been to Nizwa briefly as a tourist. The teaching hours when I was in Salalah were very low as a lot of students were choosing to go next door and study at the Technology College. Apparently, that was because they were less strict in enforcing the government policy in regards to absences . Students were generally nice, but, lazy, which is common for the Gulf. The pay was actually good and, as a single person, I was able to live comfortably and save around 2,000 USD a month without any difficulties. All in all, it was a very 'cruisy' gig and, if that's what you are after, then I'd recommend giving it a go.
Anyway, like I said, my information might be out of date so please take the above with a pinch of salt. Good luck! |
