After the referendum for independence the central government in Baghdad revoked the Kurds' ability to issue visas for the Kurdish region.
So, we either had to 1) fly out through Baghdad and pay a fine for not having an Iraqi visa or 2) exit through the Turkish land border.
Obtaining an Iraqi visa required a lot more paperwork which the uni was unwilling to help with, although they would reimburse the costs for it. Unlike the on arrival Kurdish visas, Iraqi visas had to be obtained in one's home country. |

Dohuk is a decent place to work, but the 2 guys running the English foundation program are drunk losers. Its an unorganized mess. The money is decent, but stay away from the management. |
