They give up good medical care and a quiet civil way of life (aka Mediterranean diet and life style) for a USA way of life. Absolutely no issue with what individuals want. I, personally, gave up on the USA 30 years ago.. but this is moi... YMMD.

When one is facing the prospect of being made homeless and worked to the grave.....it is understandable!

Who is the individual you refer to in your comment "one is facing..." homelessness and being worked to the grave? Americans in general? Teachers in general? EFL teachers ...? I would like to hear you expand on your one-liner.
