Hi all,
Just a quick query...what, in today's current climate, would be considered a "good" salary at a university (private and public) in Turkey? Can't seem to find much up-to-date info on this.
NOT asking anyone to reveal their salaries, obvs, just what would be considered an average, livable salary for an experienced university instructor.
Many thanks!

Hi Oscar
Salaries in Istanbul come in at around 8,000 TL
As far as I am aware Bilkent is the only university in Turkey that pays in foreign currency. |

8k seems reasonably decent. It would depend on what else is included in the package. Accommodation is obviously the big one, but some also offer health insurance, pension plans, flight tickets etc
You should be able to live off 8k okay, even paying rent, assuming you aren't out eating in restaurants/ drinking every night. |

As far as I know Koc and Sabanci are the only 2 universities in Istanbul that provide accommodation. I agree with you that 8k is decent. As long as you don't plan to leave Turkey. |
