"I assume the members here can help me steer clear of the bad employers." Possibly.
But one of the big problems with EFL is the lack of reliable information on prospective employers. In fact, there is far more information available for travelers than for EFL teachers. By doing research online, I can find a good hotel for a decent price and get reliable information on worthwhile restaurants, tourist attractions, etc. It is far more difficult for an EFL job seeker to find a reputable employer that is a good match.

I still wonder how one gets paid if no bank account in home country and on biz/work visit visa? That is what has me baffled. With those types of visas, as I have found out, you cannot open a bank account in the KSA (and thanks to NS for her visa types thread, all very helpful).

They get paid in cash.
