I saw there's an ad on TEFL.com for teaching positions at AGU. Does anyone have the lowdown on this place? Is it new? I'm using lowdown here as any information is welcome. Smile

It's been limping along for years now...

Years ago there was the sensible idea of centralizing the Gulf Education structure in Bahrain. As I recall AGU was supposed to be THE medical university for the Gulf - and perhaps other majors too. But soon enough every other country decided that they all wanted one of their own. (naturally this was necessary if they wanted any women to study medicine as few to none of the families would allow their girls to travel to Bahrain and live there on their own.)

Gulf Air was started under the same concept. But rather than the sensible idea of having one medium sized airline taking care of all those tiny countries, the royal egos quickly required an airline of their very own.

That's the history... hopefully someone in Bahrain now can tell what is happening these days.

Don’t ever ever work here. You will regret it. The worst place I found in 10 years in the Middle East. The head of English has no qualifications, no management skills & knows nothing. She justnswjust sways in & out. Doesn’t know what the words curriculum or rubric means & doesnt understand why you would do standardisation before marking exams.

They seem to be advertising at the moment, but there are over 200 applicants via LinkedIn and haven't heard back from them. Anyone having any luck?
