Hello Everyone. I'll be arriving in Cambodia for a job hunt in April. I need some information. Is a criminal background check required by most employers and/or government to get a work permit? If so should I get an FBI CBI or would a report from my local PD/Sheriff suffice? Also will I be expected to provide official college transcripts when I apply? Do I need to get any documents such my diplomas notarized? I don't like Thai-style surprises |

I'm wondering the same stuff, but I'm beginning to think this forum is mostly inactive. |

As far as I know, teaching English in Cambodia is still largely unregulated and most teachers do not have work permits. If you're planning on teaching there, you should be in contact with some schools. They should be able to provide details about the requirements. I just checked a couple of job ads online and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Anyway, I'll confirm with a friend of mine who is currently teaching there in Phnom Penh and let you know what he says. |
