Hi Everyone,

I have taught ESL for years.

1. My problem is that I speak way too fast, and too choppy, when I teach. It becomes way too intense.

Any tactics I can do to fix that?

2. As an analogy, my handwriting is also terrible. But, there are YouTube videos that teach how to get better, and have improved some.

Any videos, etc. someone can recommend on how to speaker clearer, not go on tangents, etc.?

Spiral is right
I am always surprised that so many of those teaching EFL have never themslves learnt, studied or acquired a second language. I would make it mandatory for professional EFLers. Not necessarily a language spoken by the students. Just any foreign language.

I don't agree. I don't think it ought to be a requirement. I know plenty of people (myself included) that can't speak a foreign language and do ok teaching English overseas.

Don't think it should necessarily be a requirement, but it does allow you to empathize with students who are learning a second language. That motivated me to adjust my accent as I had a thick Brooklyn accent when I first started teaching.
