The outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus known as COVID-19 has caused public schools in Viet Nam to stay closed after the Tet lunar new year holiday.
Many foreign teachers have been unpaid and without income since mid-January.
All public schools in HCMC are closed until April 03 and perhaps later.
Language schools & centers are NOT hiring at this time. |

Yes, this is important information that people need to know if considering VN. The vast majority of teachers are paid an hourly rate for teaching only. So, they are 'unpaid' because they are not earning any money, i.e. the schools don't owe them any money because they haven't been teaching for over a month now.

AFAIK, the closure is (nearly) nationwide, not just in HCMC.

They're also mostly closed at least to the end of this month.
Here's some news:
As schools in most provinces and cities in Vietnam are closed until at least the end of February in light of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) epidemic, English teachers at local language centers who are paid by the hour are starting to feel the impact.
