The government has announced an entry ban of foreigners from Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the United States for a period of 30 days to prevent the possible spread of Covid-19.

According to a Health Ministry statement issued today, the ban takes effect from Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

The ministry spokeswoman Or Vandine declined to give further details.

In a separate statement, the ministry also decided to temporarily close the Canadian International School, which is situated in Koh Pich after a Canadian man tested positive for Covid-19.

Warm regards,

The epidemic in the USA and Europe is just starting and will take 6 weeks to end IF things go right. China in particular the epidemic is starting to end. Doesn't entirely make sense I know, but of the Americans that are coming over, you don't know who has it. China the individual most likely doesn't. I think that would be their reasoning. They do get some advice and help from WHO on what to do.

My question is how many confirmed cases are there in Cambodia?

March 17, 2020

The Health Ministry has detected 12 new cases of COVID-19 in Phnom Penh and five other provinces, bringing the Kingdom’s total to 24.

The ministry issued a statement today, saying that 11 of the 12 COVID-19 patients are Cambodian who had recently returned from a religious congregation in Malaysia.

The ministry said that the patients were part of the 68 others whose samples are being tested.
It said the 12 cases were found in Phnom Penh, Banteay Meanchey, Kampong Chhnang, Battambang, Kampot, and Tboung Khmum provinces.

I was just looking into this, but not sure who to contact officially. I saw on a flight website that the ban includes Germany, Italy, France etc. Does it seriously not include China?

Would like to get out of here, even if it is safe now!

Perhaps a political move on Hun Sen's part to please his buddies in Beijing?
