Hi, I worked in Taif branch for a 3 years, it's closed down now. We were promised transfer to Mecca branch, that didn't happened, we got laid off.
I'm glad I didn't go. Friends at Mecca who work there, have left, have said it's an dreadful place to work, prison like, racist to white & arab teachers, toxic management, work place bullying is normal there. to name a few.
Like many other ESL teaching colleges in Saudi Arabia, another shamble, just for the money.
Money means nothing when your health is suffering.
If anyone has some insight into this place, please share to help others make informed decision. |

|
|
First there is ways to get help and assistance and seek compensation, legally.
Being able to find a lawyer is the best way to go about it.
If it's a Visa issue then you are working illegally, so if your VISA says 'NOT PERMITTED TO WORK' and your allowed multiple entrance in/out of Saudi Arabia. Then you are working illegally... and liable for prosecution in Saudi, working with such a visa is at your own risk.
If it's a payroll issue, you must keep a track of it.
In fact, when you sense things are not right, keep a track of every work related incident. The management are snakes and will not hesitate to put a blame on you for any little incident.
keep a copy every email if you have to, save it on a portable USB.

You can notify your country embassy, and Canadian Embassy, or Saudi Embassy, specifically the VISA authorities.
If your feeling threatened but violent or aggressive nature, don't get provoked into hitting back, they will want that. YOU must report names and people to the local police and tell your embassy.
If you know a local saudi, then good, if not look around for one, or ask the students to find help you find a local lawyer, then meet up and explain to them everything, the local lawyer must be specialist in labour law.
Notify the Ministry of Labour in Saudi, find the office in your city.
Important, if you want to sue and get compensation for bringing you on false work VISA, on mistreatment at work, on workplace bullying and entrapment. YOU MUST have EVIDENCE.
Gather Evidence, but for your safety, (don't be scared), keep it hidden, record conversations in secret if you need to, video record incidents from your phone, gather email communication from management, and payroll emails, also have witnesses at hand, either students or trusted co-workers.
Gather as much evidence as you can, but if they find out your upset or trying to get to the bottom of why your VISA says work not permitted, or why is management so shady, if they sense that, (you see they management work like a cult), so they'll FIRE you on the spot, or plan to entrap you, and bully you out! yes they do that. they'll also delete all your emails, and work records on computer, thus nothing to trace! it's been done before, this is there snake tactics.
Get out if your health is suffering, and report them to the relevant authorities, make your voices heard, and hopefully the corruptive practices will stop. and they'll hire real qualified professional management who really know what they're doing.
All the best,
Oh please remember to share information, and add your comments, all to help other, we need to break this cycle of 'foolish' behaviour of snakey managements in Saudi. |
