The land borders with Laos & Cambodia are now closed.
And Vietnam Airlines has suspended all international flights.
Foreigners are no longer allowed to enter Vietnam & "Overseas Vietnamese" without actual Vietnamese citizenship are also banned from entry.

And how long this will last is anyone's guess.

Viet Nam only has 251 cases with ZERO deaths - don't expect them to re-open the borders anytime soon!

This article appeared this weekend. Although not directly related to opening the borders, there should be a large number of job openings in the coming months, especially if language centers are also allowed to open.

If the borders are open and int'l flights are allowed, it will likely be a teachers market as many English teachers left last month.

Vietnam schools set to reopen in June after four-month break

Sooner in HCMC

HCMC authorities said Friday that the city’s 1.7 million students can return to school mid-May, a month earlier than proposed by the education ministry for the entire country. The city is also considering the resumption of manufacturing activities around the same time to reverse the economic downturn, they said.

The rationale offered for the early reopening was that the city was handling the Covid-19 spread well and has only used 3.5 percent of its total number of hospital beds.

This is the latest news from Vietnam:

Hanoi, HCMC to ease social distancing with variations

https://e.vnexpress.net/news/news/hanoi-hcmc-to-ease-social-distancing-with-variations-4088598.html

Quote:
Both cities... as well as other localities will still have to stop social events, gatherings of over 20 people in a place and gatherings of 10 people or more outside workplaces, schools and hospitals. A minimum distance of two meters should be maintained between people in public places.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

HCMC is allowed to open shops, street businesses and some non-essential services. With a couple of areas like the districts of Thuong Tin and Me Linh still deemed "high-risk" of infection, Hanoi will have more restrictions in place than HCMC. Stringent social distancing measures will still fully be applied to those districts.

Hanoi authorities said they will continue to prohibit bars, karaoke, restaurants, game centers and tea shops... Festivals and sport events will also remain paused. People can go out normally but should still do so only when necessary. When going out, they must wear masks and keep a safe distance. Not wearing a mask when going out will continue to be fined.

Transportation such as buses, taxis and ride-hailing services can resume, but the city will set certain restrictions; for instance, on the number of seats that can be filled and should remain empty. All means of transportation need to have hand-sanitizers at hand.

Hanoi hasn’t decided when to resume school for over two million students in the capital city.

A couple of language schools have been seen advertising for NES teachers on social media.

It was mentioned to me that RMIT will still be teaching online for another semester/term.
